Facebook and Business

Facebook and Business

Unfortunately for people who run a business, it is essential to be on social media and so with all the facebook groups out there, it is hard to stand out from the crowd when posting as the scam artists also become attracted.

Facebook has become a beacon for cyber gangs and con artists who see its audience of 1.6 billion monthly users as potential targets to fleece you of your hard earned money.

Facebook scams are becoming the most common form of targeted methods of criminal activity as reported by Cisco Systems annual report in 2016 on Cyber Security.

This makes it hard for genuine businesses or genuine online retailers to entrust their audience with there offers as people are scared to accept offers in case the are scams. The scammers are very good at what they do and with the emergence of Multilevel Marketing businesses, it makes it even harder.

They gain your interest and trust with a written script and then rush you that the offer is only on for one day and then it will be gone and before you know it you’ve subscribed to the next best thing, supposedly anyway! If a business offer is asking you to subscribe upfront without fully experiencing the selling model on a free trial then it is probably best to avoid.

A good business model like Wealthy Affiliate, for example, will give you a free 30 day trial with full access to all the premium facilities for you to try including the excellent step by step video tutorial training. For a review of this business, platform click here

One of the most popular tactics scammers will use is the use of click-bait headlines associated with extraordinary news stories however if you click on them you are treading on thin ice with regards to viruses.

a report in the guardian had Gavin Hammer, of social-media software firm Sendible, quoted as saying:

“The issue is they are legitimate websites who are paying to advertise but are subsequently changing the content. It’s the click-through with all the promise and no delivery. Viruses, worms, trojan horses, ransomware, spyware, and other malware are installed in this way.”

Facebook and business is a good match regardless of the scams as scams are reducing but not vanishing. as Facebook evolves so does the technology of the scammers but pleasingly more of these bogus adverts are getting shut down on a daily basis.

Some popular scams on Facebook will include in their titles the following:

  • Miracle food or wonder drug
  • see who viewed your profile
  • facebook grant awards
  • a young man kills girlfriend
  • Rayban sunglasses (post linking you and others to your wall from a friend)
  • first status scam
  • Farmville!!!
  • Celebrity sex tapes

These titles and others are normally followed with an action phrase prompting the reader to click on the link.

Authentic Facebook and Business Teamwork

Facebook is well aware of the scams and spamming that goes on and will ban Facebook accounts that continually post the same post and link to multiple groups in a short space of time, normally you can get away with 30 posts a day by posting half in the morning and a half in the evening.

If you require a service that you’re looking for on Facebook so you can review the business the best way and the way facebook prefers is through a business page. Below is an example of just that. I live in Liverpool in the UK, I need a builder so I type in Builder, Liverpool, and my search results pop up on my selected category which is pages. It does not matter if you misspell a word either as the search engine will rectify that by showing you the correct spelling of the title you want. In this example, I have chosen the top one. From here I can obtain enough information to carry out further checks with regards to the company information and perhaps go to trust the pilot to see if there are any bad reviews there or anywhere. I can also research company information.

If you do your due diligence before committing to something you will quickly find out if it’s genuine or not just by typing the company or offer into Google  a wealth of information will be at your fingertips.

good luck and stay safe!!!
